Early Ejaculation



There are times when my man comes a little too quickly. Any advice?




At some point most men may come a little faster than he or his partner likes. It's the most common sexual male dysfunction effecting about one in five men age 18 to 59. It's likely due to psychological reasons, but a physical exam is needed to rule out biological reasons. The major cause of early ejaculation (also called premature ejaculation) is due to anxiety. Anxiety is easy to fix. Here are a few steps that can be taken:

  • Medical options

    Discuss with your health care provider whether a class of drug called an SSRI (trade names Prozac, Zoloft and others) is right for you. Other erection sustaining drugs (trade names Viagra, Cialis and others) may also help.

  • Try products designed to help decrease sensation

    There are lotions and creams out there designed to decrease sensation with the idea that it would assist in maintaining arousal. (Check out the toystore for products). Great care needs to be taken with their use because if not used properly it can numb your partner, too, which is a real turn off for her.

  • Consider sex coaching or sex therapy

    Some underlying issues leading to ejaculatory problems may need some outside help.

  • Learn control

    *As with all great sex, it starts in your head. Turn off all the negative messages involving worry and stress.

    *Practice self pleasuring involving more than just stroking the penis to erection and ejaculation. Sex is about a whole body experience, not merely the genitals.

    *When self-pleasuring, approach, but not arrive at the point of no return. At this point pay attention to how it feels, what body changes are taking place, the sensations, breathing, and the urge to release. Back off a bit, and stay aroused without ejaculating. At this time use the squeeze technique developed by Masters and Johnson. this calls for squeezing ghe penis at the base or the frenulum (sensitive spot on the underside of the penis) until the is some distance from the point of no return. Then return to more vigorous self-stimulation. Repeat this several times over several sessions. Approach your point of no return, then back off using the squeeze thechnique. For most men, it doesn't take long to develop good ejaculatory control while alone.

    * Once you've practiced and feel you have good control during masturbation, then try it with your partner. Allow her to do the squeezing for you.
